A boutique youth soccer academy for 2016-2018 age groups
Wellington FC is led directly by Brandon Wellington — a coach with professional playing and coaching experience in Europe and North America, and a licensed scout’s eye on every player’s development. Small rosters. One philosophy. Every session.

how players are developed
The foundation of technique to build good habits for the future: receiving on the back foot, playing quickly under pressure, confidence with both feet. All technical work is done in a game environment so players learn to use technique intelligently in a game situation, not drilled with cones alone. This is how players learn to perform consistently under pressure, with the ability to react and adapt to what’s in front of them.Accordion content
The critical foundation every Wellington FC player is built on. The ability to make the right decision at the right time is the most important skill in football. Creating the environment where players develop this week by week is the cornerstone of our development philosophy. Players aren’t evaluated solely on athleticism at young ages, but on their ability to understand and solve problems presented in the game. We develop the individual to play in a team, not a team of individuals.
The research is consistent: dominating at younger ages says almost nothing about who’s best at 16–18. A systematic review spanning over 60,000 athletes found that 89% of internationally dominant juniors never reach that level as adults. We build the habits that hold up when it matters. See Research
Player assessments are conducted using European scouting methodology, the same framework used to evaluate youth players at academies around the world.
Every player receives a report after each match, with a game overview and footage, so progress is visible and tracked.
Direct access to the coaches evaluating your child, not a front office.
Sessions built to develop the player and the people around them, so training carries over past the pitch.
Founder
Brandon Wellington
Brandon has played and coached at a professional level — representing club and country in Canada, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, and Iceland, where he both played and coached professionally in Garðabær. He played collegiately in NCAA Division 1 at Niagara University, captained teams during his professional career in Europe, and is an active member of the Canadian National Beach Soccer Team. Brandon holds an IPSO Level 3 scouting certification and brings over a decade of youth coaching experience, both at home and overseas. His background in early childhood education shapes how he coaches young players: methods built around how kids actually learn and build confidence. Every Wellington FC player is developed under Brandon’s direct evaluation and his understanding of youth development.
Why Wellington FC
A different kind of club, by design. We’re not trying to be the biggest club in the region – we’re building the most focused one.
Wellington FC is built around one consistent philosophy, delivered by a small team of coaches led by the founder. Brandon leads every team directly and oversees every player’s development, with supporting coaches delivering sessions under his curriculum. Players grow within the same coaching principles as they progress, keeping the consistency and confidence needed to meet the challenges built into Brandon’s development framework — the same framework he has used to consistently build strong athletes, footballers, and young men.

“When our son started training with Brandon, his anxiety made it difficult for him to participate in training or feel confident around other kids. Brandon’s calm approach, educational background, and genuine ability to connect with young athletes made all the difference. Week by week, we watched our son grow more confident—not just on the field, but at school and in everyday life. Soccer became something he looked forward to, and we’ll always be grateful for the impact Brandon has had on his life.”
